Saw the contractor today on my daily visit and he pointed over to this pile and said this is the wood for our house.

The "slab foundation" is getting poured today!!

They started pouring the Slab today!!!
Slab-on-grade foundation. As the name suggests, a slab is a single layer of concrete, several inches thick. The slab is poured thicker at the edges, to form an integral footing; reinforcing rods strengthen the thickened edge.

Pipes are going in!

Drove by Friday 4/15/16 and saw they are getting ready to
put the pipes in. Here are our pipes.

Stop by after church Sunday 4/17/16 to see what progress they
made and the pipes were in the ground and we believe yellow piping
will be for sewer. A little tidbit about this company. It was founded in
1975 called "WE Curling Welding Service Inc. is a mid-sized
 water sewer & utility.
We want to thank this guy and others who
have to work on the Sabbath to do this for us. We are so grateful to be
able to build this home for our family & for everyone to enjoy for
many years to come.

First day of building!!

So excited! It is our first day of building our townhouse!! As I was pulling in to check out the progress it looked like they were getting ready to pour the cement to make the footings! Which, I found out through research: "Footings are an important part of foundation construction. They are typically made of concrete with rebar reinforcement that has been poured into an excavated trench. The purpose of footings is to support the foundation and prevent settling."

The Surveyors are here! The Surveyors are here!!

Last week I drove over to see how things are going. I saw the the surveyors were there! So exciting!! We came back a few days later and the black silt fence was up. And of course I needed to look to that is suppose to do. "The purpose is to allow sediment from storm or flood water to settle rather than getting washed into streams or sewers. Excavation of foundations exposes subsoils such as clays and silts; runoff washing this off site can cause various problems; if the silt washes into a drain, it can cause a blockage and if it runs into a pond or river, it can cause significant damage to the ecosystem there. I can't find it now, but I remember reading an article a while back about (I think)a fish farm that suffered severe loss of stocks due to runoff contaminated with yellow clay from a nearby construction site."

Progress of last few weeks of Pickney Lane

They started building on our street
so exciting!
